Ketchikan Humane Society is a tax exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to helping abused, neglected, and abandoned animals get a second chance of a loving forever home. We are an all volunteer organization. We rely on private donations and most of our budget is spent on veterinary care. We are committed to creating lasting relationships between people and animals through our adoption program.
All our animals are foster in homes to allow them to experience what normal family life is like. Our foster homes evaluate and assess personality of the animals in their care to help match animals with forever homes. Our foster homes are responsible for providing a safe and loving temporary home and food, toys, cat litter etc. Our animals get a high quality, wheat, corn, chemical preservatives free food.
All of our foster animals are spayed or neutered before being placed in permanent homes. We have an application and screening process for finding loving homes, and for matching the life-styles of our adopters with our animals personalities. Our adoption rate is approximately 99%. Very rarely do we have to euthanize an animal because of unsolvable behavior or medical problems.
